cookie box creations 2006

 

alvidrez architecture inc. was thrilled to join with the girl scouts of the rio grande for the 2006 cookie box creations event.   this event gives girls a unique opportunity to team with professional architects, engineers and interior designers in a contest which uses girl scout cookie boxes to create design entries.   the rules are simple:   each entry must be worked on by both professionals and girls, are created using empty cookie boxes, are no more than 10’ x 10’ in size and reflect the event theme.   the 2006 theme was “be brilliant” and our design truly was!

 

The name of our team was cookie box buddies or cb².   Our team was comprised of nine girl scouts and six alvidrez architecture inc. employees who worked together to select a design that would be reflective of our joint talents and this year’s theme.   after brainstorming, deliberation and imagination the design was determined.   The metamorphosis of a butterfly was our selection as we felt it related perfectly to both the event theme and girl scouts everywhere.   The brilliant metamorphosis of the butterfly is similar to that of young girls and women who are transitioning from one stage of their life into the next, bridging like a brownie to a girl scout, and ending with new hope and determination to succeed.   the girl scouts are like butterflies changing each day with education, community service and sisterhood to become our leaders of tomorrow.

 

the cookie box buddies worked approximately two months on the project and the final product was incredible!   all designs were placed on display at sunland park mall for two weeks.     final designs were voted on by a panel of professionals as well as mall patrons who voted on a “people’s choice.”   we were honored that our design won 3rd place!  

 

the people of Alvidrez architecture had a fantastic time sharing and teaching the girl scouts and we can’t wait to participate next year!
